The most famous Sarajevo chronicler Mula Mustafa Bašeskija, alias Ševki, was born in Sarajevo in 1731 or 1732 in Mimar Sinan's mansion. At the age of 25, he began writing the Chronicle: "Here I will record the dates of some events that took place in the city of Sarajevo and the Bosnian Ayalet, because everything you record remains, and everything you remember disappears."

The chronicle is written in Turkish, and the first translation was made by Riza Muderizović. The original Chronicle is kept in Gazi Husrev-beg's library, where it was brought by Muhamed Ševki Alajbegović in 1917.

This edition was translated and commented by Mehmed Mujezinović.
